So when I got paid this month, I decided to do a bit of makeup shopping since I hadn’t done any for a while. It took me a bit to decide what I wanted to get. I originally wanted the James Charles X Morphe palette, but of course, it had already sold out by the time I got paid. Go figure. My local Ulta said they had 30 in transit, but they didn’t have tracking info so they didn’t know when or even if they were coming in. So I thought about it and decided to get something else instead.
The first thing I picked up was the Ulta Beauty Twisted Volume Mascara in Jet Black. I was intrigued by the fact that it has a dial you turn to make your lashes the length and volume you want them. Then I picked up Ulta Beauty’s Glitter Cream Eye Shadow in Psych!. It’s this really neat pinky-purple type eye shadow that almost has a duo-chrome feel to it. As you rotate the tube the shadow turns from pink to purple and back again. I also picked up an Ulta Beauty Neutralizing Powder – it’s a banana setting powder that I plan to use for setting my concealer.
Then I wandered about a bit and finally had to ask where the BH Cosmetics were because I couldn’t find them. Go figure, it was a tiny display on an end cap. I wanted the Aurora Lights palette, but it appeared to be out of stock. The girl who showed me where to find the display asked me if I’d like her to check in the back, so I said sure if she had time. She wandered off and finally came back with the coveted palette.
While I waited for her to find the palette, I looked around the e.l.f. display and happened upon the HD finishing powder in Soft Luminance. I’ve been wanting a finishing powder that was loose as I have been using a pressed powder and just have not been impressed with it.
Then I wandered a bit more and actually paid attention to the Morphe display. I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Morphe sponges, so I picked up the Complexion Blending sponge. They didn’t have the Contour & Highlighting sponge in stock.
That was it for Ulta. Then I went to Walmart because a girl needs almond milk… and wandered into the cosmetics aisle. The Walmart I went to is one of the ones that is now carrying NYX, which made me super happy as I use the NYX Total Control Drops foundation. I also use the HD Studio Photogenic concealer – as both concealer and as eye shadow primer. I found my shade and picked up a second tube of it since I use a fair amount every day.
Then I found the Wet N Wild section. They have some exclusives at Walmart and one of them is apparently the Color Icon Lip Gloss Zodiac Collection. I picked up Capricorn (my sign) and Aries (my best friend’s sign). I might go back next pay day and get Sagittarius (my other best friend’s sign) but I’m not sure yet. Aries seems to be a dark burgundy or brown gloss, while Capricorn is this gorgeous shimmery gloss that looks gold and red in different lights. I’m seriously wanting to put that one over Designer Blood or Redrum by Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
Finally I went looking for a new facial cleanser. I’ll say this – Walmart doesn’t have a very good selection of facial cleansers anymore. I finally chose an Equate version of a Neutrogena facial cleanser because I was not about to pay the price they wanted for the Neutrogena one.
So that completes my February Beauty Haul. I’ve got a F.O.M.O. box from BoxyCharm coming, so I’ll blog about that when it arrives. But for now, I plan to enjoy my new goodies and see what looks I can create from them!
